PT LONSDALE
This private seaside house is situated 100 meters from the beach at the end of a T intersection. The house buttresses its self against the public southern street but opens up to the northern rear. The design of the house is a collection of pavilions butting up to each other joined by roofs and linked by courtyards that allow comfortable external living at all times of the year and in all wind conditions.
The house has Japanese screen like large timber sliding doors that give it the ability to open up to create seamless indoor -outdoor spaces. The scale of the pavilions varies according to the hierarchy of use. The materials also vary from strong rough texture near the street and perimeter to lighter transparent materials in the courtyards and living spaces. Children, adults and guest have distinctly separate spaces.
